February 16
We closed on our house in November. Since that time, we've been working away to try to make our little house our home. We have wonderful friends and family who came over and helped us strip a ton of wallpaper from the kitchen and bathroom and helped us paint. After we painstakingly peeled the wallpaper off the kitchen wall, we painted the wall cucumber green. It was only after we got the second coat of paint on the wall that we realized under the wallpaper we peeled was a painted wall--but under that paint was another wallpaper boarder! We didn't know it was there because previous owners painted over it--then wallpapered over that.
With the way the light hit the green paint, the super old kitchen border underneath was very noticeable! SO, Stephen's first big project was to put up bead board in our dining room! The idea accomplished two goals--to separate the dining room area from the kitchen area (since it is all together) and to cover the stupid, covert kitchen border. It turned out better than I expected. Stephen and my brother Chris did an awesome job!
We still need to paint the other blue chair (far left corner) green to match the other chair. We're waiting until it gets warmer to finish that project. Also, when Cooper comes we'll expand the memory wall on the back wall. Right now, we have some wedding photos and pictures of downtown landmarks like the Capital, Fountain Square Park, and a rail car from the Depot (courtesy of Katie Beard). On the opposite wall (in the kitchen) I have the four sketches up that I had done by one of the graphic designers I work with (John Thompson). Let me know what you think! What am I missing?
More before and after pictures to come! Wait until you see the angel/cherub wallpaper we took out of the bathroom!
