I'm back! But no promises...

Hey guys. SO it's time to get the new nursery ready for baby number 2...which means I needed to get on here and get some inspiration and feedback from my incredibly creative friends! Also, i'll post stuff for you guys to approve or disapprove, LOL! I've been in boy mode for over a year now--it may take me a little bit to get into the girl mindset.

First, we are thinking about doing the nursery in gray and white with accents of dark and light pink. Since we are thinking gray for the wall, i am going to be getting white furniture. i don't want the room to look like a cave, so it will be a light gray. We are looking for a comfy glider-rocker and/or recliner for the new baby room. Let me know if you have a suggestion!

A little bit prego

Here is a picture of the 34 and 35 week bump. It hard to believe that just 14-15 weeks ago my bump was less than half this size!
I am starting to feel a bit like a whale. Moving around is a bit more difficult-especially when I try to get off of our deep set couch! Also, we've been finishing up the nursery this week. I think we are almost finished. Just a few finishing touches are needed. These photos aren't the final photos...they are just "in progress" photos.

Kitchen/Dining Room-Before and After

February 16
We closed on our house in November. Since that time, we've been working away to try to make our little house our home. We have wonderful friends and family who came over and helped us strip a ton of wallpaper from the kitchen and bathroom and helped us paint. After we painstakingly peeled the wallpaper  off the kitchen wall, we painted the wall cucumber green. It was only after we got the second coat of paint on the wall that we realized under the wallpaper we peeled was a painted wall--but under that paint was another wallpaper boarder! We didn't know it was there because previous owners painted over it--then wallpapered over that.

With the way the light hit the green paint, the super old kitchen border underneath was very noticeable! SO, Stephen's first big project was to put up bead board in our dining room! The idea accomplished two goals--to separate the dining room area from the kitchen area (since it is all together) and to cover the stupid, covert kitchen border. It turned out better than I expected. Stephen and my brother Chris did an awesome job!

We still need to paint the other blue chair (far left corner) green to match the other chair. We're waiting until it gets warmer to finish that project. Also, when Cooper comes we'll expand the memory wall on the back wall. Right now, we have some wedding photos and pictures of downtown landmarks like the Capital, Fountain Square Park, and a rail car from the Depot (courtesy of Katie Beard). On the opposite wall (in the kitchen) I have the four sketches up that I had done by one of the graphic designers I work with (John Thompson). Let me know what you think! What am I missing?

More before and after pictures to come! Wait until you see the angel/cherub wallpaper we took out of the bathroom!

First snow at the Lee house

February 3, 2010

We got several inches of snow last Saturday and Stephen got out to take a few pictures of the winter wonderland. We also took a couple bump pictures in our back yard. With my coat on it's hard to tell how much bigger I've gotten in the last few weeks.

Stephen and I have also been working on getting a few finishing touches done on the house before we tackle the nursery. I had a friend/business associate, John David Thompson, sketch some art for my kitchen. It's a woman cooking, slicing bread and holding a baby while cooking--also a man holding a baby up in the air. I think they turned out great--exactly what I was wanting. He's very talented--he does amazing portraits and I'm looking forward to hiring him to do a picture of Cooper one day.

Working on the Nursery

Stephen just finished painting the wall in the nursery. Our crib has arrived to the Baby USA in Franklin, TN but I'm afraid we won't be able to go pick it up this weekend because of the snow. They are calling for several inches tonight!

I've been looking for little airplanes I can hang from the ceiling in Coopers room-but the only ones I could find are at Pottery Barn and I don't like them that much. BUT I bought one of those small rubber-band planes--you know you wind up the prop and it twists the rubber band up. It was only $2.99 at Hobby Lobby! Anyway, I left the prop and wheels off of it. Then, I painted it and WALLA! Personally, I think it looks great and when I put it together with three or four more I think it will be cute! I'm going to hang these from the ceiling near the crib.

So-here we go!

Ok--I'm pretty terrible about updating my Facebook profile--so I don't know why I think I'll keep this blog up to date. I'm really going to try to keep this up because I love reading my friends blogs. I plan to add before/after pictures of our new house, pictures of the nursery as it comes along, pictures of the bump, and pictures of Cooper when he arrives in April! Wish me luck on keeping this updated!
